Concert Review: Big Time Summer Tour

Author: Tori

On August 28 I attended the Big Time Summer Tour at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. As I reached the venue I quickly realized that I did not fit in the crowd for two reasons: I was not between the ages of 9 and 14 and I was not wearing a "Future Mrs. Cody Simpson t-shirt". Despite that, the concert was fast-paced and exciting from beginning to end.

First on stage was Leon Thomas, who took the place of Rachel Crow. As soon as the spotlight hit the stage everyone recognized him from the Nickelodeon show "Victorious" and that was a big advantage for him. My only complaint is that all of his songs seemed average and they weren't memorable. He played two or three slow songs and the other songs weren't any more exciting. Everyone seemed to enjoy his performance and it was a great way to start the night.

The next act on stage was Australian singer Cody Simpson; he had a great introduction and all of the girls were going crazy before he even got on stage! His set was packed with catchy, pop songs and flawless choreography. He played his most popular tunes including "Iyiyi", "So Listen", "Wish U Were Here" and he didn't forget to include a short clip of "Teach Me How To Dougie".  It is easy to see why there is so much hype over Cody right now; he sounded great and his performance was smooth and polished. Last but not least was the most anticipated act of the night: Big Time Rush. Yes it is true, Big Time Rush is a boy-band...but have no fear. They broke the stereotype of average dance moves, lip-syncing, and boring background music. BTR had a full band behind them and the stage set-up allowed them to jump on trampolines and slide from fireman poles. Their choreography was outstanding and their live vocals sounded almost identical to the album. With so much happening on-stage, the boys still found time to jump into the audience and get up close with their fans; giving high fives, taking pictures, and even bringing up a few on stage to serenade (and that was definitely the highlight of the show). In conclusion, Big Time Rush's show was anything but lackluster. If they are coming to a city near you, don't forget to check out the Big Time Summer Tour, you will have a great time!
