Reckless Serenade Interview With Rock Forever Magazine

1. For anyone who doesn’t know the band yet, what is the #1 thing that people should know about you?
"We are all certified scuba instructors… Okay, we’re not , I’m sorry I deceived you. The one thing people should know about us is that we really want people to be able to relate to our music. The songs we write, though they may have their own stories behind them, resonate with people and let them know that they aren’t alone."

2. What is the inspiration behind the band name?
"Our guitarist, Mark, really likes the band The Arctic Monkeys, so we’re actually named after their song, “Reckless Serenade”. We felt it fit with what we were trying to do; play vivacious (reckless) music while, lyrically, writing songs that would comfort people."

3. If you could create your dream tour lineup, who would you want to go on tour with and why?
"We would love to go on tour with The Wonder Years or Foo Fighters. Judging by their music, The Wonder Years seem like they’re very down to earth guys, while we’re all pretty sure that Dave Grohl is the coolest guy on earth."

4. You just released your new album “Chasing Lights”. What inspired you musically and lyrically on this album?
"We all drew inspiration from different things. We drew inspiration from bands such as Blink 182, and Foo Fighters. Lyrically, I was inspired by Manchester Orchestra and The Wonder Years."

5. What is your favorite song from the album and why?
"It honestly changes every single day. Some days it’s “Diamond Kid” just because I like how anthemic the chorus is, other days it could be “Chasing Lights” or “Missile”. That’s the best part about it: we worked so hard to make sure that people would struggle to pick their favorite song. We feel like this is easily the strongest material we’ve ever put forth and we’re very excited about everyone’s reactions to it so far."

6. You have been a band for 2 years so has your music evolved since you first started?
"I think it has by leaps and bounds. In a way, we’ve really started to hit our song writing stride. We’re more confident than we were when we recorded our first EP a year ago, and it feels like we’ve really figured out our sound. In addition to that, the overall band chemistry has never been tighter. We’re just best friends hanging out and writing music together. Being so comfortable with each other really allows us to put our best foot forward when writing."

7. What is one fun fact that fans might not know about you?
"Our new drummer, Matt, had about a month to learn the entire album before we went in and recorded it."

8. What are your upcoming plans and what can fans expect from you guys in the near future?
"As of right now we’re really trying to get more shows and exposure. Now that our album is out we’re trying to get more shows booked. Be on the look out for a small winter tour in the north east."
