The Vamps Exclusive Interview - Upcoming Album, Musical Inspirations, Future Plans, & More!

The Vamps are creating a whirlwind of excitement in the music world; their catchy songs, charming personalities, and adorable looks are catching the attention of teens around the world. The band consists of Bradley Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball, and Tristan Evans. After posting a series of covers on their YouTube channel and accumulating millions of views, they signed to a major record label and began working on original music.

This is only the beginning of The Vamps' career - their debut album comes out in 2014 and they will be performing with Taylor Swift and The Wanted early next year. We caught up with the band to talk about their music, crazy fan experiences, their popular YouTube videos, and more. You can check out the interview below:

1. Your single “Can We Dance” is out now. What inspired you musically and lyrically on this track?

We like to think that “Can We Dance” is mainly about just having lots of fun with your friends... We don't like to take ourselves too seriously and we hope that this is reflected in the track.

2. You released your debut EP, “Can We Dance” this year. Do you have plans to release a full-length album any time soon? If so, can you share any details?

Yes definitely- not too sure when America will see our album (hopefully not too long!) but we are releasing it in April 2014 in the UK. Don’t worry - we will keep you updated!

3. Although you play pop music, I read that bands like All Time Low, You Me At Six, and Blink 182 inspire you, too. What particular elements of your music are influenced by artists outside of your genre?

When you hear our album, we hope that you'll be able to hear these influences- We think that our second single, 'Wild Heart', is more folky than “Can We Dance”, and folk is a genre that we all love.

4. What is the biggest misconception about the band that you would like to clear up?

We are all totally normally guys; we hope people will realize that 'The Vamps' is a REAL band that we put together ourselves :)

5. You are well known for your covers on your YouTube channel. You have covered songs by Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, One Direction, and more. What was your favorite cover to film and why?

We genuinely love filming all our covers, and we all have our own favourites. We all enjoyed filming our most recent cover 'Story Of My Life' by One Direction.

6. What has been the most memorable moment from behind the scenes of filming one of your YouTube videos?

Nearly getting James' car stuck in the mud behind the scenes at the “Story Of My Life” shoot was pretty funny.

7. You are originally from the UK and due to your popularity online, you have dedicated fans around the world. You have been well received here in the United States so far! What is your favorite part of visiting the US?

Tristan, Con and Brad LOVE American food haha! James likes the sun... when it's sunny!

8. What other countries would you like to visit on tour in the future?

We would love to visit as many places as possible.. we can't wait to go to Australia!

9. Since your fans are so passionate about the band, I’m sure that must result in some crazy fan experiences. What has been your most memorable fan encounter thus far?

A fan once sent us some of her body hair… LOL

10. What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Our own mini tour in the UK was something we all thoroughly enjoyed!

11. Clearly, you guys have come a long way in a short period of time. Where do you visualize The Vamps in the next 5 years?

We hope we are still writing songs and playing shows for as many fans we can!

12. What are your upcoming plans for 2014?

We are releasing two more singles before our debut album. We also hope to do our own tour in the UK and beyond within the next year :)
